Charles Shaughnessy's GRATITUDE THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY Project #365Grateful #Gratitude #OnlyConnect! #Thankful #PhotoOfTheDay

Hey everyone!

Thank you so much for participating in my latest project, GRATITUDE THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY, be it with entries of photos, comments, LIKES, repins, SHARES or just looking at the photos! It has been one of the most enriching and satisfying things I have done since interacting with all of you with my 'Only Connect!' projects on the web.

We have thousands of people looking at the entries (FB gives us statistics) and want to make sure that when you look at the photos, read the stories, that you leave comments or LIKES. We believe everyone appreciates the acknowledgement of their stories and photos. If YOU have submitted photos, be sure and show others the courtesy of commenting on the other photos that have been submitted.

Just so you know, we have picked some of the winners from the first batch, but not notified everyone yet. If you are a winner of something signed from me, you will be getting an email informing you. It has been harder than we thought to pick winners, but we are also going to pick winners from the submissions during August. That will be the last time there are 'winners' as such, as we believe you are all winners.  Sometimes one person has submitted a body of work that has been chosen, sometimes, just one submission. We will not be making a public announcement, as that is not what this is all about.

We have gotten some wonderful messages and comments from people that have told us what this project has meant to them. We know some people submitted for a prize, originally, but the majority seem to be submitting and participating for what they are getting out of it, including new friendships. We get a lot out of it as well, so that is why we are going to continue it, for now,  just for the positive results that have come of it.

One of the things I (and Team Charlie) love the most is all of the new fans that have come forward with photos and sharing part of their lives with us. It is very heartwarming. We also love getting to share the gratitude of some of our long time fans as well! It is a great way to see what others are going through in their lives. We all have challenges and we all need to encourage our friends & neighbors, and complete strangers, who just might become new friends, even if just through a comment on a gratitude photo! You never know how your photo, or your words, might just make someone else's day.

To see all of the photos submitted so far, since 19 june, 2012, Facebook has nicely laid them all out in albums so now when you are on my Facebook Fan Page at this link you can easily see all the photos.
It would be great if you each could help out by hitting the SHARE on the original FB albums and put them on your own pages, so your friends and families can see them and participate as well. Janelle does it sometimes, but . . . help her out when you can by tagging your own photos and Sharing the albums on your pages and in your groups! Especially if you are someone that submits frequently.

While you are on the Fan Page, PLEASE be sure and LIKE the Fan Page if you haven't already and have your friends and family too, so they can see the latest news (and photos) as it is happening! We want everyone to see these fantastic photos!

Because my Facebook friend page can only have 5,000 friends (the only way Janelle can tag your photos, & the more that are tagged, the more people will see them) Janelle is using Barrington's Friend page for tagging, so request it as a friend so we can make sure you get tagged.

The email address to send in your photos and stories is gratitudephoto @ (no spaces) Again, help Janelle out by putting the name of the person sending in the photo, where you are from, and the date the photo is being sent in, for example like this:
Charlie from Los Angeles 8.25.2012 then she just has to copy and paste the information. If you send them in after 5 pm PST, chances are they will show up in the next day's album.

Thanks again. We do love this project . . .we are thrilled so many of you have loved it too. And for those that haven't 'experienced' it yet. . . give it a try . . . it will make you happy you did.

Remember my friends . . . Only Connect!

  1. It has been alot of fun seeing everyone's photos. Enjoyed it! Great project!

  2. I've been posting something every day on my blog about what I'm thankful for too.

    I have so much.

I think I will pick out a photo to email.

I cannot wait to go see all the photos.

Here's A Thought . . . Jack Maxwell and Susan Shaughnessy

3 pm PDT - 4 pm PDT on your computers, LIVE at

Our special guest will be Charlie's friend, the very charming, Jack Maxwell.  Jack is the Host of the extremely entertaining, funny and successful show on The Travel Channel, The Booze Traveler!  We are thrilled to have Jack on the show to talk to us all about his new TV show. He just finished his first season of the show and has been picked up for a second season!

Jack travels the globe to not only get a taste of a country’s alcohol, but to quench his curiosity about what people drink, why they drink it and the stories they tell when they do. At each stop, he connects with locals, immerses himself in regional activities, learns about the country’s unique relationship with liquor and sometimes even participates in the alcohol-making process. If you haven't seen the show, you must check it out the website for #BoozeTraveler or watch some of the episodes online or on The Travel Channel. Check your …

Charles Shaughnessy Blog ~ So this is what I think . . . .21 february, 2012

THE Global struggle is NOT between Christianity and Islam, East .v. is between the extremist and the moderate, the reactionary against the progressive. Look closely at the ideology of Rick Santorum, emergent as the standard bearer of the very vocal reactionary Christian Right, and compare it with the ideology of extremist Islam. Both see Religion as the guiding spirit of society, to the point where legislation itself should be Religion-oriented; not much removed from the vision of a Theocracy. Is there any real material difference between Santorum and the Right's desire to have government illegalize abortion, contraception and many other more subtle rights for women on the one hand, and the tenets of Sharia law that marginalize women in the Islamic culture on the other? Both sides believe in the "sanctity" of life, but will willingly sacrifice it in the name of their Gods. Again, is there really any material difference between shooting a doctor outside his Pla…

Charles Shaughnessy's thoughts on Cory Monteith's death

"RIP Cory.  Until we treat alcoholism and other mental health problems as compassionately as we treat cancer, there will be other Corys."

What are your thoughts?

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — “Glee” actor Cory Monteith, who had struggled for years with substance abuse and once said he was lucky to be alive, died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol, the British Columbia coroner’s office said Tuesday.“There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most tragic accident,” the office said in a statement. He was 31 years old.
